Thermal imaging art.
Thermal imaging can check a lot of things.
It can be a precursor check for electrical issues. Heating and air conditioning can be evaluated. Roof and plumbing leaks are a given. And the best way (the only way inside walls) to see the quality of an insulation installation or whether insulation has slipped inside walls is thermal imaging.
When checking a double, tiled shower I always run the water for a while to see if the temperatures mix properly and the water is directed toward the drain.
There should be no puddles in the corners!
Using a thermal camera on the area, and choosing this palette, called the Rainbow palette, the water almost looks like a lava flow.
And certainly the water is flowing toward the drain, seen in the lower left corner.
This image is almost a work of art!
And how better to see temperatures and drainage then with the Rainbow palette?
Similarly here, in another shower stall, I want to see if the drain works, but also I want to find out if the shower glass walls leak.
Why not follow all that with a thermal camera?
This image reminds me of my tie-dyed T-shirts I made at summer camp as a kid.
As I recall they looked a lot like this work of thermal art!
And yes, the drain worked well.
My recommendation: there are many palettes to choose from with thermal camera software. I like to manipulate the images I take on home inspections to try to best describe the circumstance I am showing my clients. But with a little side step actual art can be displayed! Hot and cold water - poetic art in motion.

I am having this done once it runs cold early in the winter. I may have it done this summer on hot day
I can see how this application of Mighty Mo would be very helpful and the added bonus is the resulting multicolored art. Thanks for sharing!
Have what done, William? Check water temperatures? You can do that now at the kitchen sink and a meat thermometer. The thermal imaging really brings temperatures to life, though!
S&N - I did these tests during a one-year warranty inspection where the homeowners said that one shower did not get as hot as the others. They were right. But the builder did not believe them, and the thermal camera really makes it evident. This repair requires an adjustment on the water mix at the wall hardware.
Good morning Jay. Mighty Mo can be a buyer's true friend with the right operator. Enjoy your day!
Good morning Jay. I find this very interesting and a little scary too. You're the best.
Oh wow man.... look at the colors... you should sell the prints!
Wayne - "Operator, can you please connect me to that thermal imaging guy?
Thanks, I'll wait." That kind of operator?
What's so scary, Sheila? How about
cranking it up! The one on the right is for you.
Like, yeah, Fred, you know, tie dyed and the colors are trippin'!! The new image on the left is for you. More colors!

Love learning from you - 60's art and all! Hope you and your family are well and happy. All the best - Lynn
Thanks Lynn. Glad you enjoyed it! We are fine, and we added a 6th grandson to the litter yesterday.
Not only is this an art but interpreting the picture is an artform also.
Very important, Joe, as best describing the issue to and for the client is paramount.
When ARE you opening that Museum of Thermal Art Jay Markanich ?
Thanks so much for sharing your experience and this interesting information.
S&D - I'm thinking in Brookfield, Wisconsin. How about you?
Thanks Roy.
Jay good morning.
Very good data.
Thank you for the information.
Good weekend.
I'm glad you found the post, Shahar! And that you enjoyed it.
Jay Markanich thank you for the reminder of how thermal imaging can reveal many problems in a home.
Bob - these were fun images. The other day I found a roof leak that had been primed and painted just before the inspection. To the sellers, may I say -- nice try...
