What I'm Seeing Now

Once Every 44 Years!

My brother, Kenny, came to town on business for one night, so we got together and went to a baseball game!

The last time we had been to a baseball game together was the 1969 All Star Game held in Washington DC.

Count the years - that's once every 44 years!

At that game we had a very good time.  Our favorite player, Frank Howard, hit a home run!  It couldn't have gotten much better than that!

Outside the center field gate are three statues.  One is Frank Howard!

Attending Walter Johnson High School, we got our photo in front of his statue before the game!

It's interesting that we do not get together much.  But during the game we folded right back into how we were when we attended games as kids - really loud and obnoxious!

It's probably community law that we only be allowed to go to a game together once every 44 years!

During the game I took a photo of us with my camera.

You just can't go anywhere without some darn photo bomber getting into your moment!

I also simply couldn't resist taking a photo of our shoes.

Obviously I have a new pair of PF Flyers and my brother doesn't!

Oh well.

Is that one sibling rubbing it into the other?

Maybe.  BUT IT'S TRUE!

So, we ate, we yelled and we had a good time!

Oh, the Nats won, 1-0!  Bryce Harper hit a triple and scored.  The Nats pitcher Zimmerman threw a one hitter!

Seldom do you see a 1-0 game!  Or win one!

We already have plans to go to another game ... in 2057!

Thanks Ed!  We sure don't do that very much!  But it was nice to do it then!

Jay,

I thought the cicada's had the record, but they're amateurs compared to you and your brother. Those PF's will be a bit worn in by 2057. Long term forecast shows a 30% chance of rain.

They will just about be broken in by then Rich!  We'll take that 30%!  Good odds!

I think the last Washington baseball game I went to was around the same time.  Glad you had a fun evening with your brother and hopefully you wont' wait 44 years to take in another baseball game together.

Jay, the last time I saw a baseball game in DC the Senators played the Yankees.  I was a little league baseball player and our coach took us to a Senators home game.  I still have the penant I bought at that game.

Thanks Lenn.  We had not seen each other in a few years!

Cindy - we already have plans for 2057.  What's your problem with that?

Brenda - I wash them every night...

Okay, maybe not.

Mike - that was pre 1971!  I might have been at that game!

I'm sure we will J&R!  Both centenarians!

Jay, what a perfect day!  That's what baseball is all about.  But maybe without the 44 years in-between. lol

Hi Jay,

I think you should plan on a few more events for you and your brother. It may be a reach but the 2057 date may be a little out of reach. :-)

Have a great week ahead in Bristow my friend.

Best, Clint McKie

Well at least it's more often than Haley's comet!  Sounds just like old times, and I'm glad to hear that.

Boy, you're gonna be an old buger next time you guys go to a game! You might wanna think about shortening up that span a little bit!

Better get tickets now for that 2057 game - they sell out early :)

That's cool you too got together.  I'm impressed by the PF Flyers.  I just saw a movie last night, The Sandlot, where they featured prominently.

Chris - we might be able to get back more frequently, who knows!?

No way Clint.  We'll only be centenarians by then!

Debbie - it's interesting how people fold into the way they "used" to be.

Fred - I'm an old bugger now!  I will only be more marinated by then.

Bryan - my brother gave me that movie for my birthday a few years ago.  We felt like it was talking about us!

We're set again for 2057 Michael, and even though they are predicting rain, the force field roof keeps everyone dry.

Eric - we have gotten together for a total of about 10 hours in the last 20 years!

James - he got the Scottish MacGregor genes and I the Hungarian Markanich.
