What I'm Seeing Now

Attic Space Smiling At All The Birds - A So Called "Wing And A Prayer"

People sometimes call for specific reasons, or asking me to solve particular problems.

This home has an attic space with lots of birds.  It's a regular Birdville.

Although I explained that they could probably walk around the house and see for themselves where the birds might be getting in, they wanted me to come anyway.

I was intrigued and thought this might be fun.

What I found was an attic space smiling at all the birds - a so-called wing and a prayer.

This opening is a virtual landing strip!

They could get that neon sign at the big-box store that says OPEN and put it up beside that window!

The birds apparently come and go at will now.

Honestly, I didn't need to go inside.

Showing them this photograph was proof enough!

Step 1:  Shoo away the birds.
Step 2:  Seal up the gap.

It's plastic soffit material that has come loose.  The birds are praying it stays that way!

There!  Another problem solved!  Well, it wasn't exactly a hard one.  But still...

I turned, got in my car and drove off, into the cloudy day (no sunset).  With a wing and a prayer.

My recommendation:  home inspectors can be available for specific jobs.  They may or may not be able to solve the problem, but they will give it their best shot.  You can't always get what you want, but if you try, sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.

Good Morning, Jay, Thankfully there is not a lot of white-wash streaking down the brick facade...

For now Michael.  I don't know how old this hole is, but surely the birds can fly right in!

Morning Jay I like that wing and a prayer line.  Sad not all issues are that easily solved but that is what keeps you in business.

They better get UP THERE and clean up the mess or the stench is sure to follow.

Jay, Had a little aviary on a home this week also. Got to love the byproduct they can produce ;)

Birds need a home too.

I'm with James... I can't believe that you literally wrote the eviction notice on those poor little creatures. :-(

Unreal they couldn't see that, if the owners are too lazy to walk around their house, charge em Jay! That is almost a "DUH" moment!

Jay -- sometimes you get the easy jobs, and sometimes not so much.  This one had to be one of the easier ones.

James - well, that's what birds do!  And well.

Lenn - c'mon, we need to be considerate to those seeking homes or they will add to the homeless population.

Don - the byproduct from these guys was to screech (mock) at me!

Jim - and believe me, that is ONE FINE home!

Fred - not my house, I can't evict them!  But to your second point, I showed up, walked around the house, burped, farted, scratched in manly places, looked up and took a photo.  Then I held my hand out.

Steven - it didn't take too long!  They thought I was superhuman too.  Really?
