What I'm Seeing Now

Healthy Eating Equals Wonderful Living

No doubt about it, healthy eating equals wonderful living.

Obviously, when there is so much healthy stuff to choose from, and I mean, literally, a couple of dozen really, really healthy items, it is hard to write a blog post about healthy eating.

Healthy eating is essential!

In today's world, with so much abundance and food creativity, it is hard to not make your daily allotment in each of the health-eating food groups.

We have those groups represented above - from left to right - solids, fats, chocolate and candy!

Four and five servings in each of the healthy-eating food groups is recommended by every nutritionist.  So, when you are out and about, look around!  And satisfy your healthy-eating requirements as you enjoy such a wonderful selection of healthy-eating munchables!

Remember, good in, good out!  The old GIGO principle applies to eating too!

The replenishment of your cells is depending on it!

So get with it people!  No doubt about it, healthy eating equals wonderful living.

I had never seen that before S&D!  Maybe I need to get "out there" more!  We went to Hershey Park for the 4th.  Fabulous!  And yes, around 100F!  Long day capped by TERRIFIC fireworks!

I wondered where you were to see that many "interesting" food options!  I just can't let my kids see this...they will take it to heart!

Kathryn - there were so many really unhealthy things to eat there that I had a hard time picking four photos!  It was easy to represent all the food groups...

Honestly none of it looks appealing to me. Out of curiosity I would try the coffee.

Good morning Jay can we say tasty..  Enjoy the day sir

There was a lot of gross stuff there Jim!  And all selling well!  One really ugly sounding food was "Fried Fruit Cupcakes."  Imagine...

James - I didn't try any of it!  My consumption consisted of a not-bad grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes.  Accompanied by big steak fries, of course.  We drank all day long and never needed to pee!

Edible coffee, why do I think that would be a huge jolt to my system first thing in the morning?  Sounds like you had fun for the 4th.  Chocolate...lots of chocolate :-)

Yum.... Have you seen the deep fried doughnut burgers? Two doughnuts with a burger patty in the middle, battered then deep fried... you can feel your arteries hardening as you eat it! Saw it at the state fair this year. The sad thing is there was a line of people waiting to try it!

Cindy - I took that photo because I had never seen it before!  I don't do coffee so I don't know what it's like, but nobody was buying...

Fred - crap no!  But I suspect you can buy anything deep fried!  Gotta try anything new!

Thanks for this healthy eating reminder, all of these important food groups are how I grew to be so BIG and strong

Jay, That is some darn good food you have going there ; ) The coffee may be a treat though. I am surprised there are not a ton of those puppies in Seattle.

Jay, I'm still stuck on fried Hershey candy.... and my stomach is ready to revolt at that thought. I would have to say, you are being very positive. I was thinking more along the lines of.... crap in, crap out....

Hi Jay - That's great information and very useful advice....except you left out perhaps the most important basic food group - BACON! and particularly maple-glazed bacon candy.

I am pretty sure I am with Andrea on this one and I hope when you stop biting your tongue that you are as well :)

Bob - all the food groups were covered and re-covered at that park!

Don - I am not a coffee drinker, or eater, and had never seen that before!  It was worth a photo!

Andrea - with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek, I can tell you there was some very fine eating all over that park!  My client today is from Texas where, I was told, they serve fried butter and fried beer (don't ask me how) at the county fair!  Smack those lips, my dear!

No bacon found at the park Dick!  I was ashamed, personally, I really was.

Having some fun Shadow!  Actually the only thing I ate at the park was a grilled chicken breast sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes and some honking big steak fries.  And it wasn't bad!  It only got to 100F, and we drank all day and never had to pee!

Jay, I am greatly relieved and of course I knew you were being tongue in cheek.  I would hate to see you doing anything to shorten your stay here :)

Posted by Charles Buell, Seattle Home Inspector (Charles Buell Inspections Inc.) over 8 years ago

I wouldn't eat any of that stuff, Charlie, but am tempted by "fried butter," like my client today told me about!

I can tell you that falling off that roof 15 years ago probably worked toward shortening my days here!  Everything still hurts!
