What I'm Seeing Now

The Snow Didn't Stop Me

Yes, we are getting snow.

I have heard everything from 4" to 12".

This photo is taken about 6pm, and it has been snowing for a couple of hours.

We had steaks planned for the grill, marinating all day, ready to go.

Do you think a little snow is going to get in the way of that?

Not in this house!

The steaks are underway!

Notice the steam on the grill.

The steaks are underway!

I think we should re-gift this snow to the northeast.

I'll get right on it...!

I like a person who doesn't let snow throw all of their plans out of whack.  You are a rare bird for Northern Virginia.

Wow, Chris Ann!  I hope not!  I was out there last February too, working through 3' of snow!

Gotta grill...

I've got the BOW ready for your REgift as I am ready for it to be GONE!  It's been PRETTY, now it can GO AWAY!

Posted by Wallace S. Gibson, CPM, LandlordWhisperer (Gibson Management Group, Ltd.) over 8 years ago

Hold on there, we have plenty of our own. In fact it's snowing here right now, has been on and off all day. So you can keep and enjoy your snow.

Sending it along any time now Wallace.  I'm thinking about midnight...

Sorry, Jim, but a plan is a plan.  And we won't be getting as much as predicted, and I think because of the re-gift!  But, as always, enjoy!

Jay,

Since when is there a grilling season? Real men grill year round.

I hear that Richard!  Grilling season?  C'mon, get real and get American!

Jay,

I'll take mine medium but it will likely be well-done by the time I drive through this mess to get to your place!

Jay - Now that's what I call dedication.  I refuse to grill if the temperature goes above 85 degrees. And I don't grill in winter.

Posted by John Mulkey, Housing Guru (TheHousingGuru.com) over 8 years ago

Jay, I put it on the grill, I go inside and stay warm then I go back out and flip it...... a dedicated griller.

Jay, you been grilling musk ox again in that fancy grill?

Posted by Charles Buell, Seattle Home Inspector (Charles Buell Inspections Inc.) over 8 years ago

Jay, there's nothing like a good snow-grilled steak!  This reminds me of a photo of my dad in his parka out bar-b-queing in the snow.

Brian - coming from where you live, by the time you got here the steaks would have been long, long gone!  And that would have given me excuse to do some more!

Wow, John, that is like the proverbial pumpkin in a bottle!

Craig - I dont' stand out there either!  My wife asked if I wanted a hat and I said I didn't need one.

Posted by Jay Markanich, Home Inspector - servicing all Northern Virginia (Jay Markanich Real Estate Inspections, LLC) over 8 years ago

Charlie - by the time we got to the store all the musk ox was gone so we had to get a nice sirloin for the festivities.  Bummer too...

Wende - I had to broom off the grill but it heated quickly and I think the steam helped cook the steaks!  No snow ever stops me anyway.

Michael - the previous storms split around us.  This one came right through, but quickly and it was easy for me to send it north.

Oh. Thanks Jay. Is this where this stuff come from? You. Here is a picture of my grill, this morning!... and as you can see, we cleaned it! Next time, think before you "send away"! loll

Lydie - the last two times I sent it south, and thought it was your turn this time!

Jay  We only had 5 inches in Woodbridge - not a stopper in our world

Jay, when I was growing up here in the Metro Detroit area, my Dad would shovel a path to the grille all winter long. I admire your determination to grille. It brings back some good (and yummy) memories.

Posted by Jason Channell, The House Sleuth (Diadem Property Inspections - Serving Southeast Michigan) over 8 years ago

Not a stopper here either Karen.  But the school system is going to get a long weekend out of it!

Jason - how great is grilling?  And snow should stop that?!

Posted by Jay Markanich, Home Inspector - servicing all Northern Virginia (Jay Markanich Real Estate Inspections, LLC) over 8 years ago

That's pretty fun.  I am not a cooker, but I do enjoy when others cook on the grill.

Send some steak south next time!  :)

Posted by Jeremy Wrenn, C.O.O., Winslow Homes (Winslow Homes) over 8 years ago

I bet down there you have a lot of blue skies to grill with Jeremy, long before we do!

Posted by Jay Markanich, Home Inspector - servicing all Northern Virginia (Jay Markanich Real Estate Inspections, LLC) over 8 years ago

Yes we do, although this winter and last as well have been much colder than what we've been used to.

Posted by Jeremy Wrenn, C.O.O., Winslow Homes (Winslow Homes) over 8 years ago

Well, Jeremy, so have we, with more snow than usual too!

Jay,

Bring your grill for the upcoming bus trip to Central America.

Posted by Steven L. Smith, Bellingham WA Home Inspector (King of the House Home Inspection, Inc.) over 8 years ago

Roy - we've been careful.  I think you got more than we did.

Steve - seems fair.  I am the only one in the house allowed to touch it.  We have to be back quick, by the way.  The Scouts have school Tuesday.

Shovel snow! To barbique! NOT!.

Just plan ahead. Park your grill in front of the patio doors.

Then as the need arises, slide open the door, lift the lid, flip the burgers (the only kind of flipping I approve of), close the lid, close the patio slider, repeat as required.

We've done it for New Years, and any time through the winter. You just need enough of those fleeting BTUs.

Sounds like a good plan Robert!  I go to the edge of the deck because the dog is right there and VERY interested in the goings on.

I do not know anymore what snow looks or feels like but i still remember that a BBQ in the snow means determination. Goof for you

You know, we hear about people bringing the grill INSIDE to grill - some idiots do it down here during hurricanes! Talk about asking for trouble!

Posted by Barbara-Jo Roberts Berberi, MA, PSA, TRC - Greater Clearwater Florida Residential Real Estate Professional, Palm Harbor, Dunedin, Clearwater, Safety Harbor (Charles Rutenberg Realty) over 8 years ago

Anne - not much stops us around here when there is grilling to get done!

Barbara-Jo - can I have a little carbon monoxide with my burger?
