What I'm Seeing Now

Jay Brand

It's not often that you get a gift that is given by many people.  My kids all got together and had something made for me.  And it's just for me.  You don't have one.  At this point I could say Ha Ha, but I won't.  Although I did.

They know I am the steak meister.

They know I am out on the deck grilling steaks no matter the weather.

They know that last year I had to throw out volcanic grill rocks that I had since they were little (the oldest is now 32).  The rocks were worn out.

So I am a steak-taste nut, and snob.

Therefore, I never get a steak in a restaurant as good as what I can make at home.

And they know, from experience, that I serve the best steaks in town.

So what can be given to such a one?

How about my own brand?

Obviously the true measure of my gift, or my name, could not be contained on only one sausage.

It's now hanging in my kitchen, within easy reach, so when I need it, I have it!

What a great gift!

You may come over any time.

I hope Santa was as good to you!  Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the invitation. And congratulations on raising such intelligent children, to come up with such a perfect gift.

Jay,

An awesome gift from some folks that thought about it.. I would not have thought of that.  But I'm thinking now... since I have a person in mind that loves to grill...

Joetta - the intelligence is probably genetic, although there are two sides that contribute to that... I thought it was perfect!

Judi - thanks!  Glad you got a gift idea from the post!

That is a truly thoughtful gift.

Great gift, Jay, and kudos to the thought that went into it.

My mom loved jelly beans, I had a wooden jelly bean dispenser made for her long ago - she loved it.  It had a glass front and a little thing you pulled out to let the jelly beans fall out.  Very cute on her kitchen wall.

Thanks Lenn!  I thought so!  Come on over.  Bring a plate of cookies...

(For others reading this, that's an inside joke)

Virginia - wow, I love M&M's and my kids gave me something similar once but the top portion is a Mason jar.  It's in the TV room, where it should be.  Kitchens are probably best for jelly beans.

Sounds like a wonderful gift.  You have a very thoughtful family.

Chris Ann - at meals I will legitimately be able to say that all the steaks are mine.  Works for me!

Debbie - last year they gave me a photo book with hundreds of baby, young kid and teenager photos in it.  Now that I think of it, they ARE thoughtful!    ;>)

Was Santa good to you guys?

Jay,

That is truly a most unique and thoughful gift. Now, you just need your own restaurant to go with it.

Jay: Perfect gift.  You are going to get a lot of use out of your personal branding iron.

Posted by Valerie Zinger, Home Organizer (House Proud Ottawa-Ontario-Canada) over 7 years ago

Jay, just thought of something funny:  you can stamp a floor joist with that at the end of an inspection to show it was you.  Kinda like that paper in the pocket of a new piece of clothing that says "Inspected by #10" or something like that.

THAT would be awesome.  And a way to really get your 'brand' out there.

Posted by Jeremy Wrenn, President, Wrenn Home Improvements (Wrenn Home Improvements) over 7 years ago

Valerie - and I will.  Steaks, steaks and more steaks.  And not the kind that do in vampires.

Jeremy - I could have a lighter with me all the time, heat it up and leave a spot.  How could they prove it was me?

Exactly!  Surely no one would suspect you.

Well, Jeremy, my legal name is Jon (Jay is my nickname) so I could disclaim responsibility by showing them my driver's license.
