When A Detached House Comes With Two Condos

On the side of a house with rough-sawn, stained cedar siding, I was surprised to see two condos.  This puts me in a tough position.  Do I charge more for the inspection or just let this go?

Never before have I seen where birds have created holes in siding like this.  The means they have also, probably, bored through the underlayment (see the pine needles on the left side sticking out?) and removed enough insulation to create a nest.  A basement door is in process on the left side photo!

These were high up the wall, perhaps 25' off the ground.  What a perfect place for a warm, dry house!  What a safe place to raise the kids!

Carry me back to ole Virginny...

Does Your Chimney Play Cricket?

Ever heard of a chimney cricket? Does your chimney have one? If it is at the bottom of a sloping roof and 30" wide or more it should have one. In my opinion, even if it is less than 30" wide it should have at least a small one. &… more

A recent inspection proved interesting. Aren't they all? This was a house purchased on auction and remodeled. I don't know if that qualifies as a flip, but probably. The house was built in 1978, and that is significant. Why? Because of… more
